Horseshoe Bend and other things I thought were interesting.

Horseshoe bend! A meandering path is usually a sign of a healthy water shed.

It doesn't look as steep in the picture as it actually was. A loooong way down.

Belgian Elvis... I guess you had to be there.

Diabloceratops found in Big Water! Awesome!

More to come. These are the pics from the hike to the toadstools.

ahhhhh.... shade.
I love the way the clay and limestone are so contrasty in this area.

big toadstool, littler toadstool, Tim

They have a sign at the trailhead that specifically says: do not disturb the stools, Tim.

Hermit's to Santa Maria Spring

Does this look like Poison Ivy? I haven't been itching it, it doesn't actually itch, sort of burns. It's hard to take a picture of your right elbow with your left hand by the way. I think I picked this up at Santa Maria Spring. No idea where else I would have done this. What the heck?

Tadpoles! in the desert!

LJ and Pat talking about squirrels.

mmm... spring water. I recommend filtering.

I like this trail a lot. I keep coming back to it. Doesn't mean there's a trail I don't like on the South Rim, I just come to this one the most for some reason.

Rim Trail with Tim

The Powell Memorial has a view of the canyon, but you can't see the river. That makes no sense whatsoever.

View of the site of the old Orphan mine. I'm gonna see if I have some older pics of this one.

Sunbathing Tim, before he sprained his ankle.

Grandview with LJ

Gnome homes!

LJ!

Look at that cribbing! Gorgeous, and scary to think about building this one.

From the top of the trail.
